Babak Kazemi

Past Continuous Tense

In this series, Babak Kazemi reverses movement and stillness: the cloud, a symbol of what passes, stays the same, while the landscapes beneath it change. Something fleeting becomes lasting. The sepia tone, which recurs in his work, recalls the colour and smell of crude oil, his childhood in Ahvaz and the glow of refinery flames on the horizon.

Archival prints of this series are available.
