Scenes Not Thoroughly Seen

Joubeen Mireskandari photographs things that are seen, but deliberately not seen clearly. He often chooses unusual viewpoints and distances, so that his subject remains partly out of reach. In this series, he looks down from a high point onto a distant scene, veiled by falling snow. Shapes dissolve and details fade, and what remains is the act of looking itself — a blurred vision that recalls Leonardo’s sfumato, created here not by the painter’s hand but by the weather.
